About the Superintendents' Association of Northern Ireland
The Association is constituted through Act of Parliament. Its function is to represent its membership in matters affecting their welfare and efficiency, other than matters of promotion and discipline affecting individuals.
Chief Superintendents and Superintendents are senior police managers:
- District Commanders and members of the senior managment team in direct charge of policing resources at local level who, in consultation with their community, formulate local policing plans to meet the particular needs and problems of their area;
- Senior Investigative officers, detectives in charge of major criminal investigations;
- Heads of Headquarter support branches, formulating policing strategy and policy for the future.
